Re: Bolt-on Timecaster For Sale @ Burlington Records. - April 09

Hi Chris, I looked at the Timecaster and took some photos. I agree it's a shame to find one for sale and and see it modified, especially when there are so few around. I'd forgotten about the carved mating of the neck and body. Were all removeable necks done that way? It's an elegant piece of work an...

B.B King at Hunt's

Hi Chris, I finally found this clipping from the Burlington Free Press. I believe Alan had loaned the GS12 to Martin Grosswendt for the evening anticipating the arrival of BB King. Re: GS-12 #106

Hi Chris and hello to daisybat too, I remember the run of that particular walnut. The lighter streak was actually considered a 'defect' but when bookmatched produced a handsome body. It was the same for the streaks in the ebony. Alan's sales pitch was that it was special and I agree, as it ads inter...

The original pearl inlay logos were made by gluing a small sheet of either mother of pearl or abalone pearl to a thin sheet of wood and pasteing a drawn or photocopied pattern on the face of the pearl. I would cut them out using a Dremel jig saw and then...

Old Timer

Hi Chris. It's nice to re-connect after all these years. Alan and I met through mutual friends while I was a student in Gainesville and he and Donna were still living in Miami. I recall seeing the original Time Electric on a visit to their home. By '73 he had moved to Bristol and set up the shop in ...
