Johnny Winter's Advance Artist. #554

Hi All, Here's a few shots of Johnny Winter's custom Advance Time. This guitar is part of the Willis Family Collection. Mr. Winter's guitar tech. sent this back to Time in 86 for some adjustments. This was right as Time was closing. Luckily this guitar and quite a few more were spared from the fire....

Re: New member/long time owner

Welcome Tommy, I found your guitar when I was starting the board. The time sounds right. Having the date and serial number is great, it really helps with the history and all that. The serial number [#22] is surprising low! Take a look at this guitar Alan is assembling in Darrell's basement . It look...

Another Explorer on eBay! [15MAY09] EX12-472

Here's the link eBay Time Explorer This guitar looks like it was brought unfinished after Time Closed. All the hardware is incorrect. The finish looks like plain oil. The fret job would not be from Time. The setup on the instrument would not be Time. Etc., Etc., You get the idea. Be aware! it may ha...

Re: Well Worn GS

Hi Jedd, Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the post! Your GS8 was built in January 1983. You can find it's 'Litter-Mate' here. Bill Simmon has a GS9X #152. We always built guitars in multiples of six. This is the second guitar I've seen with the X in the model number. I can't for the life of me remem...

Bolt-on Timecaster For Sale @ Burlington Records. - April 09

All, Burlington Records on the corner of Bank & Church has a Waltham built Timecaster for sale on commission. It's a bolt-on with a mahogany body & maple board. It is in fairly good condition, but has EMG pickups and a Kahler stud mount tremolo installed. It has simple electronics ala Les Pa...

Re: Headstock Decal

Chris, Today I hit the jackpot by googling for 'waterslide decals'. You will find links for the ink-jet & laser papers and also many you-tube videos on how to do this. I remember your guitar now. The mirror pickguard is an original Time. [don't lose it!] Your guitar was the same yellow as the Po...

Re: Time Guitar for Sale

I've gotta tell ya... visiting this board is really a trip back on the wayback machine! I owned several electrics, and Allen & co. built a dreadnaught-size acoustic for me in the early days... I'm guessing '77 or so, when the shop was in Waltham. I sold the acoustic to a former student of mine....

Re: '81/82 GS-9 #113 Reposted from original Time forum Dec06

Beware everyone!! The bridge has 2 set screws clamping that sucker on! You need to get a 3/32" Allen wrench to loosen those. The bridge assembly is a Gibson 'Wide travel Tune-O-Matic' #10521 [made by Schaller]. The stud is #10946. You will find this bridge listed as an 'L6-S' , 'S1' or Harmonic...

Re: Time Explorer on eBay

Hey All, The guitar's great and everything. I think you may be missing my point... I don't want to see the collector value of Time guitars based on inaccurate information. I don't want to see people buying Times at inflated prices and then later find out that the price they paid was based on who the...

Re: Time Explorer on eBay

Hey firebird, Thanks for joining and thanks for the great link! This is one hot looking guitar. The checkerboard binding is sharp! I don't remember any orange burst finishes. This looks like it started as a Candy RED with silver as the under coat. Since the RED was an aniline dye tint that the sun c...

Re: GS-12 #106 Under the hood!

Hi All, Eros stopped by my house a few weeks ago and we took apart his GS-12. And yes, this guitar has the straplocks pictured above. Here are a few photos of the inside. http://www.timeguitars.com/images/GS12_106.jpg Here is the spot to check for the serial number. Sometimes these will have the dat...

Re: great old time

Welcome Steve. Yes, a few hundred people do read this forum every month. I remember your guitar well. Alan & I had quite the time getting the 'SATIN' refinishing just right. At times it was more Satan and less satin! It's the only Time with a satin finish. It was originally built in Waltham. You...
