GS12 EBAY. 29OCT09

Postby ChrisClark on Thu Oct 29, 2009 5:51 pm

Black Walnut GS-12 on Ebay. Looks pretty nice Folks!
Chris

P.S. auction says GS-9. It's a 12 with all the candy. 1982 sounds about right. It's an early Barn GS.

Sorry to report.
This guitar was stolen from forum member gbsguitar in July. Unfortunately, the seller refused to stop the auction and said since gbsguitar didn't have a serial number, there was nothing they could do.
This was obviously the same guitar as the black walnut matched exactly.

I'm not sure what to do at this point. If anyone has advice, please PM gbsguitar. He could use the support.

Chris

P.S. if you don't know your serial number, you better find it out now.

Stolen GS12 EBAY. 29OCT09 Serial # 127

Postby ChrisClark on Tue Nov 03, 2009 7:17 pm

Here's the serial number from Vintage City Guitars. They waited until after the auction to answer my question about the serial number. Guess that makes it all OK!

Hello,

I believe the SN is 127.

Thanks!

Hey,

thought you might want to see a great comparison of what vintage city guitars called "Similar."
I was contacted "After" the auction ended as well saying they had received the pictures that I sent of my stolen GS-12 and that and I quote "the guitars do look similar, I'm sorry for your trouble" that was it. my guitar was in the original hard shell case when it was stolen. I had taken the bridge off and removed the pick guard screws and placed both in the storage compartment of the case (I was looking into changing pickups) oddly their "Similar" guitar showed up without the case and guess what was missing? Yep, no bridge. I've never seen a GS-12 like this on ebay and the odds of one showing up in mint condition is rare enough but c'mon!!

Oh well, I guess what I'm trying to say is KNOW YOUR SERIAL NUMBER!! You might consider re-naming a child or pet just so you don't forget or lose the only way you'll ever be able to protect yourself. On the bright side, my insurance company did cover my loss, it just that I know I'll probably never have a guitar like that again. it really was one of a kind.

G.
