#1 Time bass

Alan made this for me in 1976-77. I paid for it in bits and pieces from gigs. He took the measurements for the neck from my '62 Precision. We picked a nice piece of black walnut, checkerboard binding, all the trimmings.

I had to sell it in 1983. I was young, broke, with my wife pregnant.

I was visiting Burlington in 2005 and there it was in a music store. I bought it without thinking twice. I've owned some nice basses but this is still the prettiest. Alan was a real gentleman.

Casey, that's great story. Glad you got it back.

I remember that someone informed me that a Time bass was for sale. I was too busy with work and couldn't go check it out. Good thing for you!

That's a beautiful bass and yes, Alan was a gentleman...and a scholar too!

Happy Holidays,
Chris

Thanks Chris and Happy Holidays back at you!

We had two Time acoustics in my Burlington-based band back in the 70's. I emailed one of the guitar players, now in California, to ask if he still had his. He said yes, and he just restrung it. I'll see if he can get a pic posted.
